Reggie and LaChanda Dupard

Reggie was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended John Curtis Christian High School where he was coached by all time winning and Louisiana Hall of Fame Coach J.T. Curtis.  Reggie was the first African American to attend John Curtis Christian and by his senior year, most of the "big name" colleges were offering scholarships.  He chose Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, where he earned 2nd leading rusher and 1st in yards per carry in SMU history as a SMU All American Running Back.  

Reggie met LaChanda while participating in the 1982 Louisiana All Star Games at the University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana where they were both named to the Louisiana All Star teams their senior year.

Reggie's National Football League (NFL) professional career spanned from 1986 where he was a first-round draft pick for the New England Patriots,  later leading the team in receiving.   In 1991, he played as a running back for the Washington Redskins and retired from the NFL after playing five years. In 2005, Reggie was inducted into the 2005 New Orleans Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame and in 2016 he was inducted into the SMU Hall of Fame.

After retiring from the NFL, Reggie returned to SMU and graduated in 1999.  Today, Reggie works as a College and Career Coordinator for Texans Can Academies where he uses his talent and influence to build relationships with colleges and trade schools and create the process to help students achieve their college and career goals. 


LaChanda, born in Lake Charles, Louisiana and reared in Baton Rouge,  finishing high school in Oberlin, Louisiana where she excelled in basketball, track and softball.  She was named to the 1982 Converse All American Girls Basketball Team.  


After attending University of Southwest Louisiana (USL) in Lafayette, LA, she later moved to Chicago, IL where she began her career in Telecommunications at AT&T and MCI as a circuit design engineer and project manager.   


Upon moving to Dallas in the late 80's, LaChanda worked for MCI Telecommunications, Oracle and Bank of America as Assistant Vice President, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and project manager.  She is also certified in Life Coaching, Mindful Relaxation and Spin fitness.  Today, LaChanda serves on several boards and is Executive Director for Fit and Faithful Living, she uses her gifts to inspire and guide individuals toward creating and living their best life.   

Reggie and LaChanda have been married for 28 years.   Together they have two adult children,  Jonathan 25, a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, TX and Rachel, 23 a graduate of Santa Fe University of Art & Design in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
